Netflix’s Beauty Pageant Movie Dumplin’ Is Here To Save 2018 & Twitter Is Obsessed

Every so often a movie comes along that’s just so utterly perfect in every way that you wonder how it wasn’t made earlier. In August we had rom-com To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, and squeezing in just before 2018 nears its end, we now have Dumplin’, the most feel-good film of the year.

The movie dropped on Netflix over the weekend and somehow perfectly combines beauty pageantry, body positivity, drag queens and Dolly Parton. Be still my beating heart.

Oh, and Jennifer Anniston is back in a big way. The actress plays the mum of high schooler Willowdean (played flawlessly by Danielle Macdonald), a waitress who signs up for a pageant in Texas as an act of rebellion against her mother, a longtime pageant queen.

It’s all about female friendships, self-love, knocking down BS beauty standards, and being a badass like our lord and saviour, Dolly.

Here’s the ‘9 to 5’ singer promoting the movie alongside a dumpling recipe. It’s a big mood.

I really can’t talk enough about Dumplin’. It’s life-affirming, tear-jerking and delightful in every way. It’s the complete antithesis to fellow Netflix offering Insatiable, which was not just bad TV but cringe-worthy, body-shaming and deeply damaging.

People are pretty damn obsessed with Dumplin’ and here’s why!

It’s just so wholesome.

Viewers are majorly crushing on love interest, Bo.

Peter Kavinsky, who?

It’s all about body positivity and empowering young women.

I’m not crying, you are!

There’s just something in my eye.

Plus it will make you want to give your mum a big hug.

So. Many. Emotions.

The ending killed me dead.

CONFIRMED: It’s actually the perfect movie.
