John Oliver hilariously compares Tony Abbott to taking heroin at the Emmy Awards

Not one to shy away from giving a healthy serving to Australian politics, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver has given Tony Abbott one final whack, in a red carpet interview at the Emmy Awards.

Talking to Channel 10’s Angela Bishop (Ironically the daughter of former speaker Bronwyn Bishop), Oliver likened Abbott’s time in office to taking heroin, “I don’t know what the point of Tony Abbott was, but it was fun while it lasted. It was like taking heroin: it was incredibly exhilarating, and it was good that you stopped.”

Oliver, who was recently in Australia, performing shows and visiting his little sister in Melbourne also thanked Australia for constantly providing him with juicy material for his show. Hopefully old mate, Malcolm will be giving him less ammo!
