A Flat Earther Is Taking Off In His Homemade Rocket This Weekend To Find Proof
Flat Earthers are an impassioned crowd who will go to any length to prove that this round world conspiracy is nothing more than a big fat lie. But this guy literally might die for the cause.
The Flat Earth belief groups popping up online are banding people together like a religion and we saw just how intense they are from the clips of their first international conference. One especially confident flat-earther, a guy named “Mad” Mike Hughes is taking off this weekend in a homemade rocket to check that the earth is in fact flat.
The 61-year-old limo driver has spent the last few years building the steam-powered rocket in his garage so that he could succeed in his mission to retrieve absolute proof. The rocket cost about USD$20 thousand to build with the money coming from the group: Research Flat Earth.
I dunno but it just kind of feels like a bad idea. Take a look at the rocket.

But according to Hughes, it’s all going to be ok?
“I don’t believe in science,” Hughes told the AP. “I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust. But that’s not science, that’s just a formula. There’s no difference between science and science fiction.”
You can tune into Saturday’s launch as it’s streamed live on “Internet PPV” according to Hughes’s personal website. Apparently, if this works out, he’s going to get straight to work on the next rocket, hoping to eventually make it to space so he can look down on this big flat slab of planet with his own eyes.
It’s a little bit worrying to think that this guy is going to hop into a rocket of his own making when he’s not a real believer in science, so we are hoping for the best for him. Flat Earthers, you guys are wild.
