Dubai builds world’s largest vertical maze

Oil rich sultanate and fan of luxury monoliths, Dubai, has built the world’s largest vertical maze with a giant, all-seeing-eye in the top, capable of projecting images huge distances across the city. Mary Sue has already done the joke about Sauron’s Tower, so let’s focus on the maze instead.

The maze has been awarded the illustrious title of ‘World’s Largest Vertical Maze’, presumably from a pool of one, by the Guinness Book of World Records, who it seems are now basically giving these things away. The difference between this maze and other mazes, is you can live in this one, like a Minotaur, or David Bowie before he sobered up, or a frozen Jack Nicholson.

Imagine the possibilities for fun party games with your fellow all-seeing-eye/vertical maze inhabitants, like the world’s most deadly game of hide and seek, or a personal favourite called “let’s all get drunk in the vertical maze”.

The complex has all the usual trappings of a luxury maze, featuring a pool, a gym and a bunch of giant, cybernetic spiders, whose limbs contain subtle clues to your escape.

Have a look at the tower’s “minimalist” website.
